Anna Loewendahlmakes performancethat creates and inspires dialogue.
Anna works in the space between community, performance and politics,
Anna is director of TransVision Theatre, making performances that create dialogue within and between communities. She devises interactive performances and workshops exploring subjects from domestic violence to financial literacy, from mental health to organisational values.
Anna also directs large-scale community performances (Circus Oz, Festival for Healthy Living).
Anna is committed to compassionate and ethical performance making processes and engagement –often collaborating with people who do not see themselves as artists. Currently, Anna is researching cultural value and theatre practices. She is also teaching interactive theatre strategies in universities and corporate business contexts.
Anna's work is pioneering – in a quiet yet rippling way.
Performance is needed. Every audience Anna has experienced, from Zimbabwe to New Zealand, has affirmed her rationale for continuing the hard graft of making performance. Regardless of size, fame, or budget. It can be a tiny show, on the side of a dirt road to an audience of two but it is no less of a show. People need to see people performing to see. It is both a balm and a sting. Theatre is life, right?
